6 Things I Learned in 6 Months of Moonbird
By Sahithi Siri
I can't believe it’s already been six months since I started working at Moonbird. Time has flown, and so much has changed—my skills, my outlook, and even a little bit of my confidence (maybe?). When I first joined, I thought I'd just be doing video production and editing. Well, that’s not entirely true anymore! Here are six things I’ve learned in 6 months of Moonbird:
Being called a “Creative Media Producer” sounds fancy, but the work is way more diverse. Videography and editing were supposed to be my main thing, but I’ve ended up learning about branding, client communication, and even a bit of writing. From drafting check-in emails to designing social media campaigns to briefing clients on brand strategies— I’ve definitely picked up skills that I did not learn in school!
Moonbird isn’t just where I work; it’s home. I’ve seen it grow from scratch. I was there during the company registration process, accounting, building content, and navigating through the ups and downs. I was just like a baby looking at them with my owl-like eyes trying to understand things that nobody had ever taught me. Since my childhood, I have never been involved in any accounting or financial building and was also scared to even understand them. But, being part of this process has been so rewarding. Every small win feels personal, and it’s taught me how much patience and teamwork go into building something meaningful. It's totally a wild experience to witness something that started as an idea become a thriving creative space.
Ahem, these aunties are cooler than you think and they are more than just co-founders; they’ve become mentors and honestly, a constant support system for me. Indu and Rheea have changed the way I see things—whether it's work-related or just how I approach life. They’ve helped me break out of my small bubble and embrace a more open-minded, confident version of myself.
I’ve always been shy but also wanted to connect with people and never really had that chance, but Bangalore makes it easy to connect with people even without having coffee lol. There’s some sort of comfort to me in this city. Whether you’re meeting someone for the first time or bumping into an old friend, conversations happen easily here. That sense of openness has made me feel like I belong and has introduced me to so many incredible, creative people who keep inspiring me.
To be honest, I could barely look people in the eye during meetings. Now, I can at least say I’ve slightly improved in that department. I still feel shy, but working here has pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best possible way. Whether it’s presenting a new concept or dealing with clients, I’m learning to believe in myself a bit more each day. Who knows, maybe in another six months, I’ll be a full-on extrovert (okay, maybe that’s a stretch).
One of the best things about working at Moonbird? We don’t just talk about work, even with our clients. We discuss what’s happening in the world, debate, and share our perspectives. This has really opened my eyes to different viewpoints and pushed me to think beyond my own experiences. It’s been such a mind-expanding experience—breaking out of the small world I used to know and diving into bigger, more meaningful conversations.
I may not be good at writing (yet!), but thanks to Rheea and Indu, I’ve come a long way!
